This year, RC Celta will pay tribute to coaches, players who have defended the Celtic shirt with pride and personalities from different fields who contributed to promote the dissemination of the values that identify the club. In order to recognise their contribution and extol their legacy, RC Celta has created the figure of the Centenary Ambassador, whose first name is undoubtedly very special for Celta fans: Eusebio Sacristán.
The player from Valladolid played more than seventy games as a player for RC Celta, to which he returned later, between 2008 and 2010, as coach in an unforgettable period. Eusebio made the club’s philosophy of firmly and decisively supporting the youth team his own and during his time on the Celtic bench he offered the first team shirt to players such as Túñez, Álex López, Yoel, Toni and Hugo Mallo. Iago Aspas’s role in the match against Alavés, which saved RC Celta from relegation to Segunda B, will remain forever in the Celtic memory. Eusebio bet on the youth player in a particularly complicated moment and the player from Moaña scored both Celta goals in that transcendental victory.
Eusebio will receive this distinction created for the club’s Centenary and will perform the kick-off on Sunday 26 February at the match against his home team, Real Valladolid.
This is just the first of the Centenary Ambassadors who will be appointed throughout the year to commemorate 100 years of passion and heart and to recognise their passion, commitment and respect for the sky blue club.
