The Centenary unites again RC Celta and Banco de Alimentos with the campaign ‘100 ANOS – 100 TONNES’

The Centenary has once again united RC Celta and its Foundation and the Food Bank of Vigo, which will launch a food collection campaign from next Sunday’s match against Athletic Club under the slogan ‘100 years – 100 tons’. This solidarity initiative was presented on Monday morning at the Cidade Deportiva Afouteza by the Celta president, Carlos Mouriño, the vice-president, Pedro Posada, the coordinator of the Centenary, Gael García, and the president of the Food Bank, Iván Martínez, who were accompanied by the first team coach, Carlos Carvalhal, and the first team players Fran Beltrán and Franco Cervi.

RC Celta fans will be able to participate in this campaign, which will continue over the coming months, by depositing non-perishable food items at the collection points located on the Grandstand esplanades, gates 17, 18 and 19 of the Grada de Río and at gate 25 of Gol, which will be operational for collection this Sunday from 16.00, two and a half hours before the match against Athletic Club.

Carlos Mouriño pointed out that “we are a very important part of the city and we want to collaborate with it. This city has already participated, collaborated and made possible many very significant goals many times and all that remains is for all of us: Banco de Alimentos, RC Celta, fans and the city to achieve 100 to 100 tonnes of food”.

Pedro Posada stressed that this is a huge challenge, but he has no doubt that the sky-blue fans and the public will respond generously, as they have done so many times before, and that this campaign, which will continue over time, will be a success.

Iván Martínez explained that the food necessary for breakfast, milk, biscuits, cocoa, and cereals, as well as canned meat and fish, vegetables and vegetables in glass jars and oil are the most necessary food for this campaign and recalled that RC Celta and Foundation already collaborated in previous occasions with the Banco de Alimentos:

Currently, the Fundación Provincial Banco de Alimentos de Vigo serves some 20,000 people in vulnerable situations and reaches out to them, through more than 150 NGOs and approved entities with which it works in the province of Pontevedra. Before the outbreak of the 2020 pandemic, some 15,000 people were receiving help, but the health crisis and the economic context have led to an increase of some 5,000 more beneficiaries.
