THE EX-PLAYER MÍCHEL SALGADO, RC CELTA CENTENARY AMBASSADOR

Míchel Salgado, Celtic player and Spanish football legend, has been appointed by RC Celta as its Centenary Ambassador in recognition of his tireless work to spread the values and history of the club around the world. The former Celtic defender joins Eusebio Sacristán, who was honoured weeks ago as Celtic Centenary Ambassador.

Míchel Salgado was one of the great figures of the RC Celta quarry players in the 90s. He joined the first team in 1992 and played in the Celtic jersey in the elite for four seasons. During this period he demonstrated his great quality and earned the respect and affection of the fans. He played a total of 112 games and scored 3 goals, being a key player in the achievement of important victories that contributed to the team’s return to European competition.

“Celta is a very special club for me, it was at A Madroa where my career began, I remember those four seasons with great affection. During all these years I have always carried Celta in my heart and I am very happy to be able to be close to the club as a Centenary Ambassador,” said Míchel Salgado.

In his new role as RC Celta Centenary Ambassador, Míchel Salgado will promote the club’s history and values around the world. “Being RC Celta’s Centenary Ambassador is a great honour for me. I hope to be able to help take the club’s name to the top and celebrate such an important anniversary for an institution that holds a very special place in my heart,” said Salgado.

The president of Real Club Celta, Carlos Mouriño, has highlighted the importance of the appointment of Michel Salgado as Centenary Ambassador: “Míchel is a legendary player and a great ambassador for Spanish football. His experience and charisma will be a great contribution to Celta in this special year for the club. We are sure that he will help to spread the greatness of our institution and take it to the top”.

Real Club Celta is celebrating its centenary in 2023 and is confident that Míchel Salgado, as Ambassador of this unique event, will become a key player in the promotion of the club and the dissemination of its historical and sporting legacy.
